International Archive for Curative Education

The International Archive for Curative Education on the Schloss Trebnitz campus is an integral part of the House for Democracy and Inclusion, which opened in August 2025 and has since developed into a versatile place of learning and encounter.

The development of the archive began as early as 2012, based on the conviction that curative education needs a place where its history can be comprehensively documented.

The archive preserves sources on the history of curative education and makes them accessible to the public. It combines historical research, academic work, and educational practice.

Scholarly publications, estates of important figures, and audiovisual materials form the basis of the collection. These are systematically catalogued and prepared for academic use.

The holdings are made available in particular to students, researchers, and educators, making the archive a central place for learning and research in the field of curative education.

The International Archive for Curative Education is open as a place for learning and research. It offers flexible ways of use for individuals and groups – ranging from introductory visits to multi-day research stays.

Each visit usually begins with an introduction to the archive and its structure. Working with historical sources is directly connected to training and study content.
