The village festivals in Trebnitz create spaces for encounters, exchange, and communal life in the village. The Schloss Trebnitz e. V. has been organizing them together with local residents for many years, thereby actively contributing to the cultural vitality of the region.
Village festivals as an expression of community engagement
The aim of the village festivals is to create spaces for encounters between generations, neighbourhoods, and guests from the region as well as from the German-Polish context. At the same time, the festivals offer an opportunity to get to know the Schloss Trebnitz e. V. campus with its cultural, historical, and educational offerings, and to experience it as part of village life.
In doing so, the association involves numerous local initiatives, clubs, artists and cultural practitioners, as well as producers from the region. Through interactive activities, music, exhibitions, regional products, and family programmes, lively events are created for both young and old.
The Trebnitz autumn festivals and the new festival of lights
Since 2008, autumn festivals in Trebnitz have been organised jointly by local residents and the Schloss Trebnitz e. V.. The annually changing thematic focus ensures a diverse German-Polish programme with creative participatory activities, games, craft workshops, cake competitions, regional specialties, and cultural contributions.
From 2025 onwards, this format will be further developed: instead of the traditional autumn festival, a Festival of Lights will be held in the Trebnitz castle park in the future. The plan is to create an atmospheric summer evening in the historic park featuring music, storytelling, show elements, and film screenings, as well as culinary offerings from Germany and Poland.
Summer Festival “800 Years of Trebnitz”
A special highlight was the anniversary festival “800 Years of Trebnitz” in 2024. The occasion was the historical connection between Trebnitz in Brandenburg and Trzebnica in Silesia, which dates back to the 13th century.
The Schloss Trebnitz e. V. organised a diverse German-Polish programme of events, including expert discussions, guided tours, music, family activities, regional products, and the presentation of the publication “Trebnitz in der Mark. A Village Tells Brandenburg’s History.”
The anniversary festival made the shared history visible and at the same time strengthened German-Polish cooperation as well as Trebnitz’s role as a place of cultural encounter and regional identity.
